Prohibition Ale is the first beer we bootlegged back in 1997. Anything but traditional and now a GABF winning brew (2013–American Amber/Red Category), Prohibition pours a deep reddish amber hue, with a fluffy tan head that leaves a beautiful lacing on the glass. A lush, complex aroma teases the senses with juicy grapefruit, citrus, pine, spice and candied caramel malts. Mouth-feel is creamy, with a silky, medium body and modest carbonation.
- Malt – Two Row Pale, CaraMunich, Crystal Malt
- Hops – Chinook, Columbus, Cascade, Centennial
An amber ale with a ruby hue, fresh hop aroma, rich malt body and a complex palate.
Richly colored, characterized by balanced hop and malt profiles with roasted toffee and caramel highlights, Crafted to be rich but not heavy. Hospitable and easy to get along with, this is our best selling beer, perfect for every occasion.
We use six different malts, that’s unusual for an amber ale, but essential to creating its deep, full flavor. The distinctive toffee / roasty notes come from three Belgian malts, especially the Special B roast malt. And to nothing interferes with all that good maltiness, we use mild American aroma hops, just to balance the sweetness.
A beer that your brain cannot categorize but instead speaks directly to your palate. Our senses and intuition sometimes trump rational thought. It’s Mad Science.
